Wiley's Back!

In November of 1988, an idea was born! In hopes of making Wildcat Cliffs more family oriented, members Pete Dawson, Wendel Spragins and General Manager, George Shook decided to bring in the family reunion! Little did they know that 20 years later, it would be bigger than ever!
"How about we have a family reunion weekend", Mr. Spragins suggested. Dr. Dawson's ears perked up and a committee of three was formed that day. Basically, they thought up a weekend full of all kinds of events including golf, swimming, softball, tennis as well as country music and clogging on Saturday night. Members like Judy and Angus Williams, Pete Fay and others rolled up their sleeves and began working. There was about 60 to 80 participants that year. That planning year was so special a quilt was made in honor of all the families that participated and helped. That following year, even more people got involved with participation at 150 people. Our lovable friend Wiley was born that year!
So this year, we are reminded of all the wonderful additions to the camp that have been made throughout the years. That very first year, Lauren, daughter of Joan and Jay Betts was only a little girl. Recently, she was married here in Highlands. About the 13th year, 8-year old Stephanie Cruise began the tradition of singing the Star Spangle Banner. She still entertains our participants to this day! At some point, the parade around the putting green and cart paths was introduced. DJ, Steve Bond has contributed to our event with nine years of service. And to top it all off, since that very first weekend, many local clubs have followed right behind with their very own Family Reunion events.
Here's to 20 Years!
