Wildcat Cliffs is the second most established (Chartered in 1961) full service, private, family oriented, 18 hole golf and tennis club in Highlands, North Carolina. It is located in the Smoky Mountains midway between the quaint towns of Highlands and Cashiers in Western North Carolina. We are adjacent to Whiteside Mountain which is owned by the US Forest Service. At 5,000 feet elevation, Whiteside Mountain is thought to be the highest sheer cliff east of the Mississippi River.
We are a club that prides itself on our members. Wildcat Cliffs is what a country club was originally meant to be...a club based on personal relationships and shared affinities. Camaraderie amongst Wildcat Cliffs members is why new members want to join and established members want to stay. Here are some wonderful things about Wildcat Cliffs Country Club: - Location close to Whiteside Mountain with views that rival that of any golf course in the mountains of Western North Carolina. - No tee times, except for Friday and Saturday mornings, on the newly renovated 18-hole regulation golf course. - Membership is limited to 320 members which promotes casual golfing and no pressure to schedule tee times. - 2007 Completion of the $3.5 million renovation of the golf course by Course Architect, Bill Bergin. - Only indoor heated swimming pool in any area country club and a beautiful indoor 12-feet wide whirling hot tub. - A 5,100 square foot addition (11,000 sq. ft. total) fitness and activities center and spa for activities such as yoga, pilates and aerobics, book club or bible study and committee meetings. - State-of-the-art Technogym excercise equipment. - Steam rooms and two massage rooms with massage therapists available to add to the luxury of the spa. - A 21,000 square foot clubhouse with full service dining, a cathedral ceiling dining room and outdoor covered terrace. - Three Har Tru (fast dry) tennis courts. - On-grounds library with a photo gallery by member, Charlie Davidson. - Year round fishing in the numerous lakes. - Optional membership at Glenville Lake Club, just eight miles away from Wildcat Cliffs where you can stay and rent pontoon boats (subject to additional fees). - The additon of the Birches of Wildcat Cliffs, a newly constructed condominium community within the Clubhouse grounds.
Wildcat Cliff's Golf Course is not only stunning to see, but also highly challenging to play. However, the 18-hole golf course, designed by George Cobb and recently renovated by William Bergin, is "user friendly" and challenging to any caliber of golfer. There are no starting times except for Friday and Saturday mornings and on major holidays. Greens & fairways consist of beautifully manicured bent grass where you seldom find a "bad lie". Weekly activities including Men's Monday Mixer, Tuesday Ladies Day, Wednesday Men's Day, Thursday Couples Twilight Golf and Annual Ladies & Men's Member Guest Tournaments and Member-Member Tournaments. A relatively new addition is the Spirit Cup which is played in the fall between "on-site" & "off-site" members. As there are only 165 homes on the propeprty, approximately half the membership lives "off campus". Many "off site" members live close enough to participate in all Club amenities in their golf carts.
Nestled on one of the highest plateaus of the property, our 21,000 square foot clubhouse was designed by Henry Norris with recent renovations by James Howard Fox. A true "Mountain Lodge" with a massive stone double fireplace, stone columns throughout to provide a rustic, yet a setting with modern elegance. The original stone work was quarried and installed by Cherokee Native Americans and it rests atop a wooded knoll overlooking the golf course.
Lunch is served daily and dinner is served Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings. The Clubhouse is also available for private parties and special events. Enjoy your favorite beverage from your "private stock" at the members bar or "by the glass" at our Club bar. There is a large lobby, lounge and open deck overlooking the course and Cowee Mountain. Also, the Club boasts a spacious dining room, dance floor, modern kitchen, ladies and men's locker rooms, pro shop, board room and administrative offices. Golf carts and clubs are maintained in a building located adjacent to the clubhouse.
Wildcat has a wonderful, fully stocked Pro Shop with the latest in golf equipment, clothing and accessories, plus a plan that makes shopping on site quite pleasurable and affordable. Golf lessons are available with the finest professional golf staff. Our recently expanded & improved driving range draws a crowd on a daily basis.

Open daily, with each member having their own key for entry, and featuring a full array of both cardiovascular fitness equipment and weight machines, heated four-lane INDOOR lap pool, whirlpool spa, lounge area with fireplace, plus locker rooms complete with steam sauna, towels, shampoos, etc. & massage therapy.
