Glenville Lake Club

History

In the fall of 2005, two fun-loving Floridians who summer with their families at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club learned that a piece of lakefront property was for sale.  After talking this over with their many close friends, they launched a plan to buy the property, form an LLC and renovate the six room motel.  Two of the spacious rooms would become a members' lodge.  Four rooms would be transformed into rental bed and breakfast type accomodations.  The idea was to have a lakefront property where members could retreat, gather, boat and delight in each other.  All members were Wildcat Cliffs Country Club members, and all were looking forward to having a little piece of the lake.  They name the new adventure Glenville Lake Club, bought the property and set out to transform the structiure into something to be proud of.

Glenville Lake

Glenville Lake is six miles long with an incredible view of the mountains.  Five minutes away from Cashiers where there is great shopping and fabulous restaurants.  Highlands is just ten minutes southwest of the Glenville Lake Club which has more great places to dine and visit.  There are hiking trails, waterfalls, exquisite restaurants, nature center, art gallery, three theaters and great people.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse at GLC is an elegantly rustic gathering place for GLC members.  The open kitchen is accessed by a side door for catered events.  The various decks and great room provide members with their guests with Direct TV, fireplace, wet bar and comfortable seating.  Lake Glenville is clearly seen from inside the Clubhouse.

Boat Groups

GLC Members are in "Boat Groups" who contribute to the ownership of a boat or pontoon and they schedule use of the pontoons.  Once a member at Glenville Lake Club, if there is an opening, you can join a boat group.  Another option is to bring your own pontoon or boat or you can go rent a boat or pontoon that are available at a few businesses along Glenville Lake, just down the road from Glenville Lake Club.

The Four Room Lodge

The Lodge Rooms were redesigned by a GLC Member, Diann Catlin.  She created a different motif for each room.  The four themes are Sailboat, Turtle, Dragonfly and Fish.  Each room has it's own balcony overlooking the lake, and each has it's own equipped kitchen.  The private baths have combination tubs and showers.  It is a unique, self-sufficient facility for those Wildcat Cliffs/Glenville Lake Club friends or family looking for a short get away.  Sailboat has one queen bed.  Turtle has one king bed.  Dragonfly has two queens and Fish has one king.
